Project Aim

To provide businesses with export opportunities and market intelligence by enabling them to access strategic overseas markets.

To showcase the capability of Victorian industry internationally.

Nature of Assistance

Overseas Trade Fairs: Funding of up to $40,000 is available for groups of companies that attend Trade Fairs dependent on the number of participants. Eligible group item expenses include consultant support, space rental, stand design & construction, and group marketing material (including translation costs). Financial assistance is also available to groups of companies that require pre-departure training.

*An Auspice Management Fee of up to $10,000 is included in the funding.

**An additional $5,000 is potentially available to cover pre-departure training and post event follow up

Outbound Trade Missions: Funding of up to $30,000 is available to groups of companies that participate in Trade Missions. Eligible expenses include payments for group items such as consultant support, receptions, interpreters, translation and group marketing material. Financial assistance is also available to the group of companies that require pre-departure training.

*An Auspice Management Fee of up to $10,000 is included in the funding.

**An additional $5,000 is potentially available to cover pre-departure training and post event follow up

Industry Capability Missions: Funding of up to $200,000 is available to groups of companies (at least 10 companies) that develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for showcasing Victorian capability internationally in an industry sector. These may include:

• Attendance at a single, high profile trade fair.
• Attendance at a series of trade fairs.
• A group of companies undertaking a series of high profile potential customer visits.
• Attendance at a trade show followed by targeted customer visits.
• A combination of outbound and inbound trade missions.

The Industry Capability Mission may include, or be in conjunction with, companies or organisations from other State or the Commonwealth Government.

Industry Capability Missions are usually accompanied by a relevant Minister or if a Minister is unavailable, a senior industry or Government representative.

*An Auspice Management Fee is negotiated on a case by case basis.

Inbound Trade Missions: Funding of up to $15,000 is available to facilitate Inbound Trade Missions. Mission itineries must include two or more local Victorian suppliers with one acting as lead organisation through which payments can be made. Eligible expenses include airfares, accommodation and transport, meeting/hospitality/personal expenses.

*An Auspice Management Fee of up to $5,000 is included in the funding.

Grant Conditions

Succesful applicants will be subject to acceptance of the Trade Fairs and Missions Grant Conditions which include such matters as the grant payment instalments, payment compliance, how the grant funds may be applied, recruitment of participating companies, pre-departure briefings, travel arrangements and other legal requirements.

Eligibility Criteria for Participating Companies

• Trade Fairs & Missions assistance is available where there are six or more participating companies.  In the case where there are 3-5 companies, assistance is still available, however will be limited to a maximum direct payment of $4,000 per company.
• A minimum of 10 Victorian companies are required for an Industry Capability Mission. 
  
• Companies involved must:
  • Be Victorian based
  • Export goods & services that are of Victorian origin
  • Be of acceptable risk
  • Be export ready
