  • Victoria's export growth, April 2009

    05 Jun 09 | Australia’s trade balance in April was a deficit of $91 million compared with a surplus of $2302 million in the previous month. Exports fell 11 % reflecting declines in gold, coal and iron ore. Monthly imports fell 2 % including a large fall in gold imports. The decline in Victoria included falls in exports of cars and car engines, aluminium and petroleum partly offset by increases in exports of meat, cereals, vegetables and fruit and pharmaceuticals.

    06 May 09 | Australia’s trade surplus in March was $2498 million compared with a surplus of $1752 million in the previous month. The decline in Victoria reflects falls in car engines and non-ferrous metals partly offset by increases in exports of meat, pharmaceuticals and cereals. Monthly imports fell 3.2 % including declines in capital goods and gold. Australia’s exports will fall sharply in April and subsequent months.
